Sinopec Wins ESG Award for Cross-Border Carbon Management

The award-winning initiative, titled "Innovation-Driven Green Development, Shared Responsibility for a Sustainable Future," centers on a comprehensive system that tracks product carbon footprints across their entire lifecycle. Sinopec has established a replicable model for international cooperation by achieving mutual recognition of carbon accounting with BASF, a move intended to streamline green collaboration between the two regions.

During the event, company representatives emphasized that low-carbon development remains a shared global pursuit. By embedding carbon requirements into procurement processes and aligning internal systems with international benchmarks, Sinopec is pushing its ESG strategy beyond domestic borders. These actions support China’s "dual carbon" goals while providing a practical framework for other firms in the energy and chemical sectors to follow as they navigate global supply chain requirements.
