The 787B, still wearing its iconic Renown livery, serves as the centerpiece of the JDM Mazda Exhibit in the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca paddock. Throughout the four-day event, the car will participate in scheduled demonstration laps and live engine fire-ups. Senior Manager Jonathan Applegate noted that the appearance offers a panoramic view of the brand's engineering legacy, pairing the Le Mans victor with significant predecessors like the 1967 Cosmo Sport and the 2019 RT24-P prototype.
The event draws a roster of racing luminaries to pilot the machinery. Tristan Nunez and Tom Long are set to compete in Group C with the 767B and 787, while Japanese endurance icon Yojiro Terada takes the wheel of the 787B for the Japanese Cars Exhibition sessions. They are joined by IMSA legend Tommy Kendall, who brings his own championship-winning 1986/1987 RX-7 to the track.
