Zymo Research Joins BLOODPAC to Standardize Liquid Biopsy Workflows

Irvine-based Zymo Research has officially joined the Blood Profiling Atlas in Cancer (BLOODPAC) Consortium, a collaborative effort aimed at refining the technical standards for liquid biopsy. By integrating its expertise in molecular biology, the firm intends to address critical pre-analytical bottlenecks that often hinder the consistency of diagnostic assays.

Zymo Research Joins BLOODPAC to Standardize Liquid Biopsy Workflows

Known for its work in epigenetics and genomics, Zymo Research brings three decades of experience in sample preservation and DNA/RNA purification to the nonprofit coalition. The partnership focuses on the technical nuances that determine assay success, such as nucleic acid recovery and methylation-aware workflows. By contributing to the development of rigorous standards, the company aims to ensure that liquid biopsy data remains reproducible across different clinical laboratories.

Dr. Larry Jia, founder and CEO of Zymo Research, emphasized that the scalability of precision medicine depends on the reliability of the underlying laboratory processes. Through its involvement with BLOODPAC, the firm will support the consortium’s broader mission to harmonize data quality and early cancer detection protocols. According to BLOODPAC Executive Director Lauren Leiman, integrating these practical workflow insights is vital for advancing the technology from research environments into consistent, transformative patient care.
