ASE Acquires WrenchWay to Modernize Technician Workforce Development

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has acquired WrenchWay, a move designed to bridge the widening gap between automotive schools, employers, and the next generation of service professionals. By absorbing WrenchWay’s staff and technology, ASE aims to scale its digital support beyond traditional certification testing.

The integration follows the launch of ASE Connects, a joint platform introduced earlier this year to streamline career pathways in the diesel, collision, and automotive sectors. ASE president and CEO Dave Johnson stated that the acquisition marks a shift in how the organization serves the industry, moving from a purely testing-focused model to a comprehensive workforce development partner.

WrenchWay co-founders Jay Goninen and Mark Wilson will join the ASE team, bringing their proprietary technology to the nonprofit's existing portfolio. The leadership transition is expected to focus on expanding the reach of the ASE Connects platform while integrating WrenchWay’s tools to foster deeper connections between education and industry workplaces. Further details regarding the organizational transition and user impact are scheduled for release in the coming weeks.
