Black Thought Stars in Cinematic Tribute to the Art of the Drizzle

A Brooklyn pizzeria ritual has evolved into a national condiment movement, now captured in a new short film titled The Drizzler. Starring Grammy-winning artist Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter, the project traces the origins of Mike’s Hot Honey from a local pizza topping to a cultural phenomenon embraced across America.

The film centers on an aspiring "Drizzler" navigating the rhythm and responsibility of a bustling kitchen, portraying the act of drizzling not as a mere garnish, but as a generational craft. Directed by Anthony Jamari Thomas and produced by Two One Five—the production house founded by Trotter and Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson—the narrative draws parallels between culinary precision and the discipline required in music production.

"Whether you're making music, making pizza or perfecting the drizzle, there's something special about the people who invest themselves in what they do," said Trotter. The project, scored by James Poyser of The Roots, marks a strategic shift for the brand, moving from simple awareness to active community participation. As part of the campaign launching July 1, the company is inviting fans to join a new "Drizzler" initiative, rewarding those who champion the brand’s signature blend of honey and chili peppers. The rollout includes a citywide pizza box takeover in Chicago and a digital strategy aimed at reinforcing the product's roots in artisanal food culture.
