Together AI Hits $8.3 Billion Valuation After $800 Million Raise

With an $800 million Series C injection, Together AI has cemented its position as a powerhouse in the GPU rental market, reaching an $8.3 billion valuation. The round, led by Aramco Ventures, signals a massive pivot toward open-source models as enterprises seek alternatives to costly proprietary AI services.

The capital influx arrives just 16 months after the company secured $305 million in Series B funding, underscoring the rapid escalation of the neocloud sector. While earlier market whispers suggested the company sought $1 billion at a lower valuation, the final deal suggests a stronger bargaining position for the startup. Together AI reports annual bookings exceeding $1.15 billion, a figure driven by companies shifting away from premium-priced tokens toward more accessible open-source infrastructure.

Founded in 2022 by Vipul Ved Prakash, Percy Liang, and Ce Zhang, the company has attracted a heavy roster of investors including Nvidia, Vista Equity Partners, and General Catalyst. The demand for such infrastructure is intensifying; competitors like Upscale AI and TensorWave have recently closed massive funding rounds of their own, signaling a broader market trend. With thousands of paying customers including Cursor and Cognition, Together AI is betting that the shift toward open-source efficiency is a permanent realignment of the AI software industry.
