Angus McGregor Named Head of Financial Stability at RBNZ

Following an extensive recruitment search, Reserve Bank of New Zealand Governor Anna Breman has appointed Angus McGregor as Assistant Governor for Financial Stability. McGregor, who has served in the role on an acting basis since March 2025, is set to formally assume the permanent position later this month.

McGregor joined the central bank in 2022, quickly rising through the ranks to oversee one of the institution's most prominent divisions. Governor Breman credited his leadership for maintaining stability in the domestic financial system during a period marked by significant economic transition.

Before taking on the acting role earlier this year, McGregor worked closely with the bank's executive team to navigate shifting regulatory landscapes. His appointment solidifies the leadership structure at the RBNZ as it continues to manage systemic risks within the New Zealand market.
