Skanska secures $94 million contract for Virginia data center

A steady stream of infrastructure demand in the United States continues as Skanska lands a $94 million deal to construct a massive data facility in Virginia. The project marks a significant expansion for an existing client, adding a second building to an established campus footprint in the region.

The Swedish construction giant will manage the development of a 19,500 square-meter facility, encompassing four dedicated data halls along with extensive underground utility work and site preparation. This contract, valued at approximately SEK 870 million, will be integrated into the firm's U.S. order bookings for the second quarter of 2026.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for October 2026, with a projected completion date set for May 2028. This venture builds upon the company's previous work at the same site, reinforcing their role in scaling digital infrastructure capacity as demand for high-density computing space remains high.
