Canadian National Railway Hits Record Grain Volumes in June

Moving 2.67 million metric tons of grain through Western Canada, Canadian National Railway has eclipsed its previous June record set four years ago. This surge in volume highlights a resilient supply chain performance, even as severe regional rainfall threatened to disrupt logistics across the rail network throughout the month.

The railroad’s performance surpassed the 2.64 million tons recorded in 2020, marking a significant milestone for the company’s agricultural freight division. Executives attribute the throughput to a combination of sustained market demand and a high degree of operational agility.

By recalibrating shipping schedules in direct consultation with customers, the company maintained network fluidity despite the weather challenges. This collaborative approach ensured that export markets remained supplied, preventing the bottlenecks often associated with heavy precipitation in the region.
