S&P Global Restructures Market Intelligence Division for AI Integration

S&P Global is dismantling its legacy Market Intelligence structure to prioritize agentic AI tools and streamlined digital workflows. The company will now operate through two primary verticals, Kensho Data & Platforms and Enterprise Solutions, as it seeks to automate the path from raw financial data to actionable client insights.

S&P Global Restructures Market Intelligence Division for AI Integration

The reorganization splits the business into two distinct units. Kensho Data & Platforms, led by Sally Moore, will consolidate data delivery and client interfaces—such as Capital IQ and Ratings Direct—into an AI-native ecosystem. Bhavesh Dayalji will oversee the underlying AI delivery layer, while Whit McGraw manages the unified platform experience. Darren Thomas will lead Enterprise Solutions, focusing on the company’s core software assets, pricing methodologies, and financial market infrastructure.

CEO Martina Cheung stated the shift is a response to an environment where data abundance has outpaced the ability to derive meaningful context. By centralizing these capabilities, the firm aims to boost margins and accelerate product deployment. As part of this realignment, the Maritime & Trade unit will shift to the Energy division, while Credit Analytics moves under the S&P Global Ratings umbrella to better support small and midsized business coverage.

Parallel to the restructuring, the company announced the retirement of Chief Legal Officer Steve Kemps, who will step down on December 31, 2026. S&P Global has already initiated a search for his successor, marking the end of a decade-long tenure during which Kemps served as a primary advisor to the executive board. To reflect these changes, the firm has recast its 2025 and early 2026 financial segment reporting to align with the new divisional boundaries.
