Matica Bio and VaxDome Partner on Antigen-Agnostic Vaccine Platform

College Station-based Matica Biotechnology has entered a manufacturing partnership with VaxDome to advance a novel class of antiviral-vaccine hybrids. The collaboration leverages Matica’s viral vector production capabilities to move VaxDome’s antigen-agnostic candidates—designed to counter diverse pathogens and lung cancer—from laboratory development into initial clinical trials.

The project centers on VaxDome’s zIFV technology, which transforms influenza virus strains into intranasally delivered agents capable of triggering immune responses without requiring prior identification of specific viral mutations. Matica Bio will oversee the end-to-end technical lifecycle of these candidates, including process and analytical development alongside cGMP-compliant production at its Texas facility.

By consolidating these stages under one roof, the firms aim to streamline the transition from design to human testing. Paul Kim, CEO of Matica Bio, noted the site's specialized cell line technologies and staff are tailored for the complexities of such hybrid platforms. VaxDome CEO De-chu Christopher Tang emphasized that the integrated approach provides the regulatory oversight necessary to accelerate the path to clinical application for these versatile therapeutic options.
