The company is testing emavusertib, a small molecule IRAK4 and FLT3 inhibitor, in combination with the BTK inhibitor zanubrutinib. While BTK inhibitors represent the current standard for CLL treatment, clinical outcomes often fall short of complete remission. By targeting both the BCR and TLR signaling pathways, Curis intends to induce deeper clinical responses and eliminate minimal residual disease in patients who have already spent at least one year on zanubrutinib therapy.

Curis Enrolls First Patients in TakeAim CLL Trial
Lexington-based biotechnology firm Curis has reached a critical milestone in its TakeAim CLL study, confirming that six patients have been consented for its Phase 2 trial. The company aims to address persistent treatment gaps in chronic lymphocytic leukemia by pairing its oral inhibitor with existing standards of care.

James Dentzer, CEO of Curis, noted that the rapid activation of eleven clinical sites signals strong interest from the medical community. The company remains on track to dose five patients by the end of July 2026, with an initial data readout scheduled for December. This development follows broader efforts by Curis to position emavusertib as a foundational therapy, with ongoing research in lymphoma and acute myeloid leukemia currently underway.
