Airwars Report Identifies 116 Civilians Killed in Jabalia Airstrike

A single Israeli airstrike on the Jabalia refugee camp on October 31 killed at least 126 people, including 69 children, according to a new investigation by the U.K.-based monitor Airwars. The report documents the highest number of named civilian victims in a single event the group has ever tracked.

The watchdog confirmed 116 identities among the dead, noting that nearly every victim perished alongside at least one other family member. The strike, which the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described as an attempt to assassinate Hamas commander Ibrahim Biari, left at least five large craters in the densely populated area. Weapons experts cited by The Guardian suggest the destruction is consistent with the use of multiple JDAMs.

While the IDF claims the operation killed scores of militants, Hamas officials have denied the presence of senior commanders at the site, characterizing the strike as a pretext for civilian casualties. The investigation highlights the extreme human cost of urban warfare, as survivors continue to face heavy shelling in the camp. Legal experts are now pointing to this data as potential evidence for the International Criminal Court, which is currently reviewing reports of war crimes in the region.
