NAWBO Appoints New Leadership to Guide Women Business Owners

The National Association of Women Business Owners has officially installed Thresette Briggs and Lisa Brunet to lead its national and institute boards for the 2026-2027 term. The selection arrives as the organization intensifies its advocacy for federal support programs and pivots toward AI-driven growth strategies for female entrepreneurs.

NAWBO Appoints New Leadership to Guide Women Business Owners

Thresette Briggs, founder of Performance 3, assumes the role of Chair for the NAWBO National Board. She enters the position at a critical juncture, citing concerns over congressional skepticism regarding bipartisan programs intended to support women-owned enterprises. Briggs emphasized that these initiatives are vital for economic stability, promising to push for their continued relevance in Washington. Meanwhile, Lisa Brunet, CEO of DLZP Group, will lead the NAWBO Institute for Entrepreneurial Development. Her tenure focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to help business owners scale operations. The Institute recently launched the Strategic Leap, a 12-month accelerator targeting entrepreneurs earning between $250,000 and $999,999 who aim to surpass the million-dollar revenue threshold.

The leadership transition was formalized during the annual NAWBO Days event held in Washington, D.C., from May 31 to June 2, 2026. The new boards include a broad roster of industry leaders, with Megan Patton serving as Immediate Past Chair for the National Board and Cari Kenzi as Chair-Elect for the Institute. Since its founding in 1975, the organization has acted as a primary advocate for 15 million women-owned businesses, providing both policy representation and educational resources through its non-profit arm.
