Wheels Up Completes Fleet Overhaul 18 Months Early

Eighteen months ahead of schedule, Wheels Up has finalized a major jet fleet modernization program. The private aviation provider worked alongside its exclusive transaction partner, 5x5 Trading, to consolidate its fleet from four aircraft types to just two, focusing exclusively on the Embraer Phenom 300 and Bombardier Challenger 300/350 models.

The transformation involved the acquisition and disposition of nearly 100 aircraft since 2024. By streamlining its inventory, Wheels Up aimed to boost operational efficiency and better align with the rising demand for its Signature Membership and charter programs. The transition was managed by 5x5 Trading, a Boca Raton-based firm led by industry veterans Seth Zlotkin, Chris Brenner, John Odegard, and Jeremy Bogle.

John Odegard, co-founder of 5x5 and chair of the International Aircraft Dealers Association, noted that the project required precise sequencing to maintain service continuity during the rapid turnover. Meaghan Wells, Chief Growth Officer at Wheels Up, credited the firm's transactional discipline for meeting the aggressive timeline. With the transition complete, Wheels Up now shifts its focus to scaling its core Phenom and Challenger fleets to support its long-term growth strategy.
