Texas Biomed Partners With U.S. Defense to Counter Biological Threats
The Texas Biomedical Research Institute has secured a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with the U.S. Department of War to fast-track the creation of medical countermeasures against high-consequence biological threats, aiming to bolster national security for both military personnel and the civilian population.
Cory Hallam, Executive Vice President of Applied Science & Innovation at the institute, emphasized the necessity of shortening the timeline from lab-based insight to real-world application. The agreement provides a permanent structure for resource availability, shifting away from episodic responses to biological risks toward a model of constant readiness.
