Canada and Turkey Launch Free-Trade Negotiations

On the sidelines of a NATO summit in Ankara, Canadian and Turkish officials announced the start of formal discussions aimed at establishing a free-trade treaty. The move marks a strategic effort by Ottawa to diversify its export markets and reduce the national economy's heavy reliance on trade with the United States.

Beyond trade, the diplomatic alignment deepened on Tuesday as Turkey confirmed its participation in the Canadian-led Defence Security and Resilience Bank. Ankara joins seven other nations in this initiative, signaling a broader push to integrate the two countries' economic and security agendas.
