The integration of APP Financial marks a strategic move for Berthel Fisher, which has focused on attracting teams that prioritize personalized retirement planning and securities management. According to Gregory Whitenack, the decision to transition was driven by a preference for a Midwest-based partner that avoids a restrictive, one-size-fits-all platform. The practice, which includes three team members, sought a firm capable of supporting their specific relationship-driven service model.

Berthel Fisher Recruits APP Financial to Expand Midwest Presence
Cedar Rapids-based financial firm Berthel Fisher has secured the recruitment of APP Financial, a Fort Wayne practice overseeing $146 million in client assets. Led by Gregory Whitenack, the team joins the independent firm as part of a broader 2026 expansion strategy targeting markets across Missouri, California, Texas, and New Jersey.

To reinforce this growth trajectory, Berthel Fisher has appointed Madyson Tracy as Vice President of Business Development. Tracy, formerly a director at Renaissance Financial, brings nearly ten years of industry experience to the role. She will oversee advisor development, succession planning, and the acquisition of new partnerships. Paige Christofferson, Chief Business Development Officer, noted that the firm intends to continue recruiting professionals who emphasize long-term integrity and client-focused business structures rather than simple headcount expansion.
