The partnership arrives as the Gulf South undergoes a significant industrial expansion, with over $200 billion in announced projects across Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Woodside’s contribution centers on its major developments, including the $17.5 billion Louisiana LNG project in Calcasieu Parish—the largest single foreign direct investment in the state’s history—and the recently launched $2.3 billion Beaumont New Ammonia plant in Texas.

GSBR Executive Director Ben Portis noted that the company’s involvement highlights the region's status as an industrial powerhouse. Woodside joins the coalition to push for federal alignment on permitting, supply chain resilience, and workforce development. Daniel Kalms, Woodside’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, stated that the membership provides a unified platform to ensure these large-scale energy projects continue to deliver long-term economic benefits and exports.
