The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) has inaugurated a new leadership slate for the 2026-2027 term, appointing Monica M. Farley, MD, as president. Farley, an expert in infectious diseases, takes the helm of the Bethesda-based organization to steer its strategic focus on vaccine education and public health advocacy.

The organization also expanded its governing body by welcoming three new members: William P. Hausdorff, PhD, a vaccine development expert at PATH; Veronica V. McNally, JD, a prominent vaccine advocate and head of the Franny Strong Foundation; and public health scientist Jessica Steier, DrPH, MPH, founder of Unbiased Science. These appointments aim to bolster the foundation’s expertise in global vaccine access, legal advocacy, and science communication. CEO Rebecca Alvania noted that the new additions complement the board’s existing clinical strengths, ensuring the NFID remains equipped to navigate a complex public health landscape.
