Chevron has finalized a technology-licensing deal with ZL Chemicals, granting the supply firm rights to commercialize proprietary surfactants designed for unconventional reservoirs. This partnership aims to scale the oil giant's chemical recovery methods, transitioning them from laboratory development into turnkey field services for shale and tight-oil operators.

Under the new agreement, ZL Chemicals will integrate Chevron’s surfactant technology into its portfolio under the Vantis brand. The rollout targets enhanced oil-recovery programs and well-optimization efforts, where the chemicals are used to improve resource extraction in difficult geological formations.

ZL President Echo Liu noted that the firm is positioned to manage the technology through its entire lifecycle, offering clients a scalable service that spans from initial lab evaluation to full-scale field execution.
