Kyoto’s historic Minamiza Theatre is set to transform into the Hidden Leaf Village, as production teams announce a large-scale, non-verbal Ninja Show based on the global manga phenomenon NARUTO. Scheduled for a long-run debut in February 2027, the production aims to bridge traditional Japanese performing arts with modern pop culture.
The show will focus on the Naruto Childhood Saga, featuring Yuri Takahashi and Ryuma Aoi alternating in the title role of Naruto Uzumaki. Producers Nelke Planning and S-SIZE are overseeing the technical execution, which seeks to blend the aesthetic of traditional Japanese theater with cutting-edge visual technology. As the show prepares to open in the heart of Kyoto, organizers intend for the performance to become a cornerstone of the city’s tourism, offering a unique spectacle that honors the legacy of Masashi Kishimoto’s 250-million-copy-selling franchise.
