Fairmont Debuts Luxury Countryside Estate in Cheshire

Set against the tranquil waters of The Mere Lake, the newly opened Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere marks a significant expansion for the luxury brand in Northwest England. Following a £125 million transformation by Select Group, the 157-acre estate blends historic British character with contemporary high-end hospitality.

The property features 116 guest rooms, including 23 suites, with interiors reimagined by the Bergman Design House. The design emphasizes tactile luxury, utilizing materials such as Japanese lacquer, natural stone, and handcrafted tiles to evoke a mid-century aesthetic. Beyond the accommodations, the resort functions as a social hub, anchored by Gordon Ramsay at The Mere, a signature restaurant offering a refined British menu that includes the chef's well-known Beef Wellington.

Wellness and recreation serve as core pillars of the guest experience. The Fairmont Spa, housed in a restored Victorian stable block, provides an extensive range of treatments and thermal facilities, while the 18-hole championship golf course maintains the original layout shaped by James Braid and George Duncan in the 1930s. With a 1,000-square-metre Grand Ballroom, the estate is positioned to host large-scale events and weddings, further cementing its status as a major regional destination. This opening represents the fourth UK property for the Fairmont brand, joining iconic locations like The Savoy and Fairmont Windsor Park.
