Poplar Co. Net Profit Stagnates at 55 Million Yen

A marginal dip in first-quarter earnings leaves Poplar Co. Ltd. trailing its previous year’s performance, with net profit settling at 55 million yen. Despite a slight recovery in diluted earnings per share, the company faced broader downward pressure across its primary revenue and operating profit streams throughout the period ending May 31.

Revenue for the Japanese firm fell to 2.94 billion yen, down from 2.97 billion yen reported during the same quarter in 2025. This contraction in top-line growth coincided with a decline in operating profit, which slid to 66 million yen from the previous year’s 78 million yen. The most significant variance appeared in pretax profit, which dropped to 66 million yen from 91 million yen, reflecting tighter margins under Japanese accounting standards. While basic earnings per share slipped to 3.53 yen from 3.73 yen, diluted earnings saw a minor uptick, reaching 3.47 yen compared to 3.43 yen in the prior year.
