Founded in 1991, Med Frigo serves as a primary link for Greek aquaculture producers, managing fresh fish exports through a dedicated cold-chain network. By absorbing this operation, OB Streem gains critical cold-storage capacity and optimized round-trip capabilities, strengthening its position as a dominant logistics player in the Southeast European market.

OB Streem Acquires Med Frigo to Consolidate Southeast European Logistics
The H.I.G. Capital-backed logistics firm OB Streem has acquired Med Frigo S.A., a specialized provider of temperature-controlled transport. The deal integrates Med Frigo’s extensive refrigerated fleet and aquaculture export network into OB Streem’s existing pan-European infrastructure, creating a combined entity with annual revenues exceeding $500 million.

This expansion arrives alongside a leadership transition at OB Streem, which recently appointed Alexandros Karafillides as Chief Executive Officer. Karafillides, a veteran with over 25 years of international consumer goods experience, aims to leverage the combined group’s scale to enhance operational efficiencies across its eight-country footprint. The acquisition was supported by a new financing agreement with a consortium of European banks, providing the necessary capital to scale the group’s integrated service model.
