Guanacaste Airport Overhauls Operations with Digital Integration
Managing two million annual passengers, Guanacaste Airport has moved away from manual, fragmented processes by deploying a unified software ecosystem. The Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, operated by VINCI Airports, integrated four core platforms from AirportLabs to automate flight scheduling, resource allocation, and real-time passenger communication.
Operational upgrades began in early 2025 with the deployment of flight management tools, followed by the installation of VisionAir FIDS in March to synchronize terminal displays. The final piece, the Airport Community App, launched in December 2025 to streamline communication across ground teams. According to COO Lizeth Valverde, the suite was chosen specifically to handle increasing traffic while maintaining efficiency. Rares Tudor Ignatescu, product manager at AirportLabs, noted that the deployment provides the visibility necessary to resolve ground-level issues rapidly. This modernization effort supports the airport’s long-standing status as a primary gateway for tourism in Costa Rica, helping the facility manage growth while maintaining its existing service standards.
