BilibiliWorld 2026 Draws 400,000 Visitors to Shanghai

A surging crowd of 400,000 attendees descended on the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai this July, cementing BilibiliWorld 2026 as the largest ACGN convention in Asia. Over three days, the event transformed eight massive exhibition halls into a global hub for fans from more than 30 countries.

The 240,000-square-meter footprint hosted 170 global exhibitors, alongside a spectacle featuring nearly 1,000 anime-themed itasha vehicles and 60,000 active cosplayers. For the first time, organizers opened ticket sales to international fans, significantly broadening the convention’s reach beyond mainland China. This influx of global visitors provided a sharp economic stimulus to Shanghai, where hotel bookings in the immediate vicinity of the venue spiked 600 percent. Citywide, flight reservations for international travelers climbed 35 percent compared to last year.

Since its 2017 debut, the convention has shifted from a niche enthusiast gathering into a major driver of the local cultural economy. As ACGN content evolves into a borderless language for younger generations, the event serves as a physical bridge between online communities and offline commerce. By facilitating these large-scale interactions, BilibiliWorld has established itself as a cornerstone of the regional tourism and hospitality sector every July.
