The partnership secures the current management structure for Smile America Partners, with CEO Steve Higginbotham remaining at the helm. Operating out of Farmington Hills, Michigan, the company dispatches portable dental equipment directly to schools and community centers, bypassing traditional obstacles that often prevent children from receiving routine oral health check-ups.

Kaltroco Backs Smile America Partners to Expand School-Based Dental Care
By reaching 370,000 children across 20 states last year, Smile America Partners established itself as the country’s largest provider of mobile school-based dental services. Now, the organization is accelerating its growth strategy following a strategic investment from the family-owned firm Kaltroco, aimed at scaling access for underserved communities.

Kenneth Hammond, chief investment officer at Kaltroco, cited the organization’s clear social mission as the primary driver for the capital injection. For its part, Kaltroco brings a flexible, long-term investment horizon to the table, unfettered by the rigid hold periods typical of institutional private equity. Financial advisory for the transaction was provided by Houlihan Lokey, while DLA Piper acted as legal counsel.
