The integration brings both the investigational drug sevasemten and the specialized Edgewise team into the Servier fold. Sevasemten acts as a fast skeletal myosin inhibitor, a first-in-class approach designed to protect unstable muscle tissue from the progressive, contraction-induced degradation characteristic of these genetic disorders. The asset is currently undergoing a pivotal cohort study for Becker muscular dystrophy and Phase 2 trials for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Servier Seals $2.65 Billion Acquisition of Edgewise Muscular Dystrophy Unit
With a $1.55 billion upfront payment and $1.1 billion in potential milestones, French pharmaceutical group Servier has finalized its acquisition of Edgewise Therapeutics’ muscular dystrophy business. The deal centers on sevasemten, a late-stage oral inhibitor targeting muscle damage in patients suffering from Becker and Duchenne muscular dystrophies.

For Servier, the move represents a critical expansion of its rare neurology portfolio, aligning with the company's long-term 2030 strategic goals. Olivier Laureau, President of Servier, noted that the merger of Edgewise’s niche expertise with Servier’s global reach aims to accelerate the delivery of precision therapies to patients facing these degenerative conditions. Kevin Koch, CEO of Edgewise Therapeutics, described the transition as a move to place the development of their pipeline into the hands of a partner uniquely positioned to navigate global clinical and regulatory pathways.
