Kohler Reimagines Carriage House as Equestrian-Inspired Wellness Retreat

The Carriage House in Kohler, Wisconsin, has reopened its doors following an extensive redesign that transforms the adults-only property into a residential-style sanctuary. By blending equestrian heritage with high-end spa amenities, the resort aims to deepen its connection to the nearby Forbes Five-Star Kohler Waters Spa.

The 55 newly renovated guestrooms shift away from a traditional hotel aesthetic, favoring a nature-inspired palette of wood, leather, and textured fabrics. Bathrooms serve as the centerpiece of this transformation, integrating premium fixtures such as Robern vanities, Ann Sacks tile, and the Castia line by Studio McGee. These spaces are equipped with Anthem digital controls and heated flooring to mirror the therapeutic atmosphere of the adjoining spa.

Nina Kohler, Strategy & Design Lead of Kohler Hospitality, noted that the design integrates commissioned photography of Kohler Morgan horses by Drew Doggett to ground the interior in the village’s history. The lobby and public areas have been reconfigured to encourage social interaction, featuring expanded seating and bespoke lighting. This project is part of a larger investment in the destination, which includes the upcoming launch of The Serve racquet sports facility and the Purebred Farm golf course expansion. Stephen Beaumont, President of Kohler Hospitality, described the upgrade as a strategic evolution to meet the expectations of modern travelers while honoring the resort’s longstanding commitment to personalized wellbeing.
