Jay Farner Leads Historic Investment in Detroit City FC

Jay Farner, founder of Ronin Capital Partners, has injected the largest single investment in Detroit City Football Club history through his firm's sports division. This capital infusion arrives at a pivotal juncture, directly accelerating the development of the club’s forthcoming $150 million stadium and its surrounding mixed-use district.

The investment by Ronin Sports & Entertainment Group serves as the primary catalyst for AlumniFi Field, a 15,000-seat stadium currently under construction. Beyond the pitch, the project anchors a $200 million redevelopment effort spanning Detroit’s Corktown and Mexicantown neighborhoods. The site is slated to house a 104-unit residential building, featuring 76 affordable housing units, and a parking garage designed to support the venue's growth.

Farner has secured a seat on the DCFC Holdings Board of Directors as part of the deal. The club plans to open the stadium ahead of the 2028 USL Championship season, having already logged nearly 6,000 seat deposits. Sean Mann, CEO of Detroit City FC, noted that the partnership aligns with the club's long-term vision of integrating professional sports into the local community fabric. The broader development project is expected to generate over 1,030 construction jobs and establish more than 140 permanent full-time roles in the area.
