Worcester Polytechnic Institute Migrates Library Services to FOLIO

The George C. Gordon Library, which serves the university’s robotics, biotechnology, and data science programs, will utilize the transition to reduce system fragmentation. Lori Ostapowicz-Critz, Associate Director of Scholarly Communication and Open Strategies, noted that the move enables the institution to lower its integrated library system costs while gaining a more intuitive interface that minimizes the need for specialized technical oversight.

This migration aligns WPI with a global network of over 300 institutions currently utilizing EBSCO FOLIO services. Andrew Nagy, Director of SaaS Innovation at EBSCO, described the university's choice as part of a broader trend among research institutions seeking greater autonomy and flexibility in their digital infrastructure. The collaboration aims to foster a more connected academic environment, ensuring that the library’s tools evolve alongside the university's research demands.
