Mark Mathewson will join Ally Financial as Chief Information and Data Officer starting July 20, 2026. Bringing over two decades of experience from Capital One and Fannie Mae, Mathewson is tasked with steering the digital bank’s data strategy and technological evolution amidst shifting consumer expectations in the financial sector.

Mathewson’s appointment follows a 12-year career at Capital One, where he most recently served as divisional chief information officer for the firm’s retail and commercial banking units. During his tenure, he managed global technology teams across the U.S., Mexico, and India. Michael Rhodes, CEO of Ally Financial, cited Mathewson’s blend of industry discipline and ambition as the primary drivers for his selection, noting his track record in scaling high-performing organizations.

Before his time at Capital One, Mathewson spent 12 years at Fannie Mae, holding senior roles in IT governance and application development. He also brings early-career experience from Deloitte and the startup sector. At Ally, he will oversee the company's entire technology and data organization, aiming to integrate AI-driven solutions into the bank’s existing digital infrastructure. Mathewson holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University.
