Jixi City hosted a major cultural and tourism promotion conference on July 8, marking a strategic pivot for the northeast Chinese region. The conference brought together industry experts and business representatives to map out the future of regional tourism. Jixi is leveraging its dual identity as China’s graphite capital and an emerging ecological destination to reshape its economic profile. City officials are integrating digital technologies to upgrade visitor experiences while refining consumer-friendly policies to attract a broader market.

Xu Peng, vice chairman of the World Tourism Alliance, noted that Heilongjiang is successfully transforming its cold-climate resources into a thriving economic engine. Beyond the host city’s initiatives, the province has launched a 100-day summer tourism campaign. This effort includes ten curated travel routes that capitalize on the region’s expansive forests, wetlands, and border rivers, signaling a coordinated move toward a province-wide consumption ecosystem.
