France Taps Clarivate to Overhaul National Academic Library Infrastructure
The Bibliographic Agency for Higher Education (Abes) has finalized a multi-year deal with Clarivate to modernize France’s fragmented academic library landscape. The initiative aims to replace aging legacy systems with a unified, cloud-based platform designed to streamline resource management for over 3,000 institutions across the country.

Bar Veinstein, President of Academia & Government at Clarivate, noted that the platform is engineered to address the specific interoperability requirements of the French research community. For Abes, the selection represents a pragmatic response to tightening budgetary constraints. The agency emphasized that the partnership provides the necessary efficiency to maintain high-quality public services while optimizing the allocation of state funds. This agreement expands Clarivate's footprint in the region, building on existing deployments at 70 other French academic institutions.
