Los Cabos Pivots Toward High-End Wellness and Championship Golf

With a wave of prestigious hospitality brands and residential projects arriving over the next 18 months, Los Cabos is aggressively repositioning itself as a premier global hub for luxury travel. The region is shifting from traditional resort stays toward a sophisticated ecosystem of wellness retreats and championship golf courses.

The expansion features a heavy roster of international names, led by the August 2026 opening of Amanvari on the East Cape. This property marks the brand's first venture in Mexico, focusing on low-density luxury with just 18 casitas. Other notable additions include the St. Regis Los Cabos at Quivira and the Grand Hyatt Los Cabos, which will debut as the brand's first global all-inclusive resort. These projects, joined by the recently opened Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol, anchor a broader strategy to attract high-net-worth travelers seeking privacy and exclusivity.

Beyond traditional accommodations, the region is betting on the integration of nature and performance. Wellness offerings are evolving through specialized facilities like Sensei at Zadún, which utilizes biomarker analysis and personalized nutrition, alongside landscape-integrated retreats such as Paradero Todos Santos. This focus on longevity and recovery is mirrored by a massive surge in golf infrastructure. The debut of new links courses designed by Ernie Els, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods positions Los Cabos as a rare destination offering a high concentration of championship-level play.

Rodrigo Esponda, managing director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, noted that the destination is aligning its infrastructure with the current trajectory of the luxury market. By combining private-jet accessibility with Michelin-recognized dining and conservation-led marine adventures, the region aims to extend its appeal beyond the resort grounds. This shift is further supported by the introduction of luxury retail environments like the recently opened Ánima Village, which brings global fashion houses to San José del Cabo, reinforcing the area's transition into a comprehensive, high-end lifestyle destination.
