Tesseract Ventures to Develop Autonomous Drone Hub for U.S. Military
The Defense Innovation Unit has tapped Tampa-based Tesseract Ventures to prototype a containerized drone delivery system, shifting military operations toward scalable, autonomous fleets. The initiative aims to reduce the burden on human operators by deploying modular platforms capable of managing launch and recovery across land and maritime environments.
John Boucard, CEO and founder of Tesseract Ventures, described the selection as a validation of the company's focus on scalable autonomy. The prototype phase involves rigorous demonstrations to prove the system can manage diverse aircraft while maintaining resilient command and control. Under the Department of Defense’s Commercial Solutions Opening process, successful completion of this prototype could lead to streamlined production contracts, bypassing further competitive bidding.
