Aliplast targets growth with 70% stake in Poland's Kronos Polymer

Aliplast Polska has signed a binding agreement to acquire a 70% stake in Kronos Polymer Polska, a new entity emerging from a spin-off of the Polish polyethylene recycler. This move marks a significant expansion for the Hera Group subsidiary as it scales its European recycling footprint to meet rising demand.

The deal centers on a state-of-the-art facility in Gniew, Pomerania, equipped with advanced sorting, grinding, and washing lines. With a production capacity of 12,000 tonnes per year, the site will allow Aliplast to optimize logistics and local material regeneration near its existing Tuszyn operations. This acquisition is part of a broader strategy to boost the group’s total recycling capacity from 100,000 to over 210,000 tonnes annually, supported by parallel projects in Modena and Borgolavezzaro.

For Aliplast, the timing aligns with the implementation of the European PPWR Regulation, which mandates stricter standards for packaging waste and circularity. CEO Michele Petrone noted that the partnership leverages the group's industrial model to capture growth in the Polish market while reinforcing its commitment to resource regeneration. Finalization of the deal, including the transfer of necessary environmental permits, is slated for the end of 2026.
