Since launching his company in 1997, Phillips has expanded the enterprise from a specialized painting firm into a full-service contractor handling everything from roofing and siding to garage floor coatings. The Titan 100 program selects executives based on their vision, influence, and impact on both their respective industries and the local community. The current cohort of honorees represents a combined annual revenue exceeding $53 billion and supports a workforce of more than 163,000 employees.

Beyond his work at Phillips Home Improvements, which has served over 45,000 regional homeowners, Phillips established Contractor Freedom. This secondary organization focuses on training other business owners to develop disciplined systems and leadership skills. Phillips attributes his recent recognition to the collective efforts of his team, noting that true leadership involves taking responsibility for the communities and people entrusted to one's care. The company maintains an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and has received multiple Torch Awards for Ethics.
