IntelePeer Spins Off Aqurio to Bring Agentic AI to Healthcare

Dania Beach-based IntelePeer has launched Aqurio, a new venture dedicated to deploying autonomous AI agents within high-stakes sectors like healthcare and finance. By focusing on governance and compliance-first infrastructure, the company aims to move beyond simple chatbots toward systems capable of executing complex, end-to-end operational workflows.

While traditional conversational AI is typically limited to responding to queries, Aqurio’s platform is designed to make decisions and complete tasks autonomously. The company targets environments where errors carry significant financial or clinical weight, such as patient scheduling, prior authorization, and insurance claims processing. By integrating SmartAnalytics, SmartAgent, and SmartEngage, the platform acts as a unified engine that executes workflows across disparate systems while maintaining strict adherence to business rules.

The technical backbone of the new company relies on years of proprietary interaction data rather than generic third-party models. CEO Frank Fawzi emphasizes that the platform was engineered specifically for industries that cannot afford the inaccuracies often associated with general-purpose AI. To meet these rigorous demands, the platform is HIPAA-native and holds certifications including HITRUST, SOC 2 Type II, and the ISO/IEC 42001 standard for AI management. With compatibility across more than 70 electronic health record systems, the technology is intended to embed directly into existing clinical and administrative environments to close operational gaps and address persistent labor shortages.
