The project highlights individuals whose contributions range from the craft beer revolution to public art and environmental stewardship. Among those recognized are Icelantic Skis CEO Annelise Loevlie, muralist Thomas “Detour” Evans, and Oskar Blues Brewery founder Dale Katechis. Stranahan’s head blender Justin Aden noted that the initiative aims to capture the essence of those who built the state’s unique lore, framing the distillery’s own history as part of a broader, ongoing narrative of Colorado innovation.

Stranahan’s Marks Colorado’s 150th Anniversary with Pioneer Tribute
To commemorate Colorado’s sesquicentennial, Denver-based Stranahan’s American Single Malt Whiskey has unveiled a curated list of trailblazers who have defined the state’s identity. The initiative honors 150 figures across arts, conservation, and industry, while inviting the public to help expand the registry before Colorado Day celebrations in August.
Founded in 2004 by Jess Graber, Stranahan’s holds a significant place in state history as the first legal distillery to open after Prohibition. Graber, who is also included on the inaugural list, sees the project as a way to link the distillery’s past with the current generation of changemakers. Beyond the list, the company has released a short film documenting conversations with several honorees and announced a series of summer events. These include a community cleanup and an August 1 Colorado Day Bash at their Denver distillery, alongside seasonal programming at their Aspen Whiskey Lodge that supports wildfire resilience efforts through the Fire Adapted Colorado organization.
