Mercuryo and LBank cut stablecoin fees for Argentine users

With Argentina ranking second in Latin American crypto adoption, payments firm Mercuryo and exchange LBank are launching a zero-fee campaign for USDC purchases made with Argentine pesos. The initiative targets new users, aiming to lower entry barriers as demand for dollar-linked digital assets continues to surge across the region.

The promotion, which runs through July 28, 2026, eliminates Mercuryo’s service fees for new users buying USDC via credit or debit cards, up to a cap of €100. While the platform fee is waived, standard blockchain network costs and currency spreads remain in effect. This move aligns with broader trends in Argentina, where stablecoins accounted for over half of all crypto purchases between July 2024 and June 2025.

Chainalysis data underscores the scale of this market, placing Argentina’s transaction volume at $93.9 billion. For LBank, the partnership serves as a strategic expansion alongside its role as a regional sponsor for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The exchange recently reported a milestone of 25 million registered users and daily trading volumes exceeding $23.81 billion, signaling aggressive growth in the region's digital asset sector. Arthur Firstov, Chief Business Officer at Mercuryo, noted that the collaboration is designed to simplify the transition for users seeking a bridge between local currencies and dollar-linked value.
