Industrial Development Funding Backs $1.7B Bloom Energy AI Power Project

This massive investment underscores a shift in how data centers secure energy. By utilizing behind-the-meter power, the firms intend to sidestep the slow-moving processes of regulated utilities, which often struggle to deliver the gigawatt-scale electricity required for modern AI infrastructure. Melius Research analysts highlight that private credit and infrastructure funds are increasingly underwriting these fuel cell and gas turbine fleets on accelerated, multi-year timelines.

For Bloom Energy, the deal serves as a blueprint for institutional capital participation in the tech sector. Aman Joshi, the company's chief commercial officer, noted that customers in this space require more than just hardware; they need a reliable, rapid path to financing and deploying power. As the lead developer, Industrial Development Funding will oversee the project, with Oaktree Capital Management participating as a minority equity partner.
