Merillat Refreshes Basics Cabinetry Line to Target Value Market

To better compete in the entry-level residential market, Merillat has overhauled its Basics cabinetry line with new finishes and construction upgrades. The refresh, which debuted July 13, aims to shorten project timelines for builders and dealers by offering faster shipping alongside design improvements requested by the kitchen and bath community.

The updated portfolio introduces three laminate colors—Bluff, Charcoal, and Olive—intended to provide designers with more aesthetic versatility in budget-conscious projects. Beyond visual updates, the company has implemented construction changes, notably adding standard matching end panels when upgrading to all-plywood boxes with dovetail drawers. These adjustments are paired with expanded accessory options, such as full-depth shelving and wastebasket units.

Dave Matthews, senior vice president of marketing, noted that the changes were driven by direct feedback from industry partners rather than internal assumptions. By leveraging the existing FastTrack program, the company guarantees shipment within two weeks or less, with replacement parts arriving in one week. Danielle Mikesell, COO of parent firm Cabinetworks Group, stated that the initiative is designed to reduce installation friction and simplify the specification process for builders and distributors.
