Summit Professional Education Acquires Kids Bowel & Bladder

Fewer than 10,000 providers currently serve over 40 million Americans with pelvic floor conditions, leaving a critical void in pediatric care. To address this, Franklin-based Summit Professional Education has acquired Kids Bowel & Bladder, aiming to scale specialized training for therapists treating children with bowel and bladder dysfunction.

The acquisition integrates the full course library and the Pediatric Pelvic Health Advanced Practitioner Certificate Program into Summit’s existing education platform. This move follows Summit’s 2025 purchase of Herman & Wallace, effectively consolidating two of the field’s primary resources for rehabilitation education under a single banner.

Dawn Sandalcidi, who founded Kids Bowel & Bladder, noted that the partnership is designed to bridge the gap between the scarcity of skilled therapists and the high volume of families facing long wait times for treatment. Research indicates that one in seven school-aged children suffers from pelvic floor dysfunction, yet families often struggle to find clinicians with the necessary pediatric specialization. By leveraging Summit’s established network, which has trained over 400,000 clinicians since 2004, the initiative seeks to increase the number of practitioners equipped to handle these pediatric cases nationwide.
