VIN Foundation Names Winners of $140,000 Veterinary Scholarships

Two incoming veterinary students have secured $140,000 awards to fund their education, marking the third year of a scholarship program established by philanthropist Becky Godchaux. The initiative honors Dr. Mike Dunn, Godchaux's personal veterinarian, by providing financial relief to those committed to companion animal medicine.

Lily Ciel Behnam, headed to Mississippi State University, and Adam Trimmier, entering Clemson University’s Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine, are the 2026 recipients. Each student receives $35,000 annually for up to four years, effectively removing the barrier of tuition debt. Beyond the direct funding, the VIN Foundation integrates the awardees into a support network that includes mentorship, mental wellness resources, and career-long debt management tools.

Godchaux established the fund in 2023 with the objective of fostering a new generation of practitioners who emulate Dr. Dunn’s standard of care. The program is specifically tailored for students pursuing companion animal medicine, ensuring that the financial support aligns with the donor's focus on domestic animal health. With the 2026 awards finalized, the organization confirmed that the application cycle for the 2027 cohort will open on July 29, 2026, at 12 p.m. PT.
