Amazon Cloud Billing Glitch Triggers Multi-Billion Dollar Invoices

Amazon Cloud Billing Glitch Triggers Multi-Billion Dollar Invoices

The technical failure began late Thursday, prompting immediate alarm among developers and businesses reliant on the cloud platform. Despite an attempt to revert a recent update, Amazon reported on its status page that the fix failed to restore accurate data by Friday morning. Users on Reddit shared evidence of the chaos, posting screenshots of invoices ranging from several million to billions of dollars for services never rendered.

Amazon maintains that the inflated estimates do not represent genuine financial obligations. The company continues to work on the billing subsystem, with the disruption expected to persist for several more hours. A spokesperson did not immediately provide further details regarding the root cause of the calculation error.
