Aeromexico to Equip 100-Plane Fleet with Honeywell Runway Safety Tech
Aeromexico has committed to integrating Honeywell Aerospace’s Surface Alerts (SURF-A) technology across its Boeing 737 NG and 737 MAX fleet. By deploying this system on more than 100 aircraft, the carrier aims to provide flight crews with critical automated warnings to prevent potential collisions during taxi, takeoff, and landing operations.

Jim Currier, president and CEO of Honeywell Aerospace, noted that the system was developed to provide pilots with the necessary time to identify hazards and execute corrective maneuvers. Aeromexico’s decision marks a significant adoption of the software, which is designed as an upgrade to the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System and Traffic Collision Avoidance System already present on the airline's aircraft. FAA certification for the technology on Boeing platforms is slated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026, extending through 2027. Santiago Diago, chief operations officer at Aeromexico, stated that the move reflects the airline's long-standing focus on prioritizing safety through innovative technological investments.
