Blackstone Bets on Robotics with Futronic Stake

As artificial intelligence migrates from screens into physical hardware, Blackstone has secured a significant stake in South Korean precision manufacturer Futronic. The deal aims to scale the supplier’s motion control technology globally, marking a strategic pivot toward the mechanical infrastructure required for the next generation of robotics.

Blackstone Bets on Robotics with Futronic Stake

Founded in 1993, Futronic specializes in high-precision actuators—the components responsible for movement in industrial machinery and automotive systems. Founder Jin-ho Ko will retain his role as chairman and chief executive, steering the company’s expansion into humanoids and general-purpose robotics alongside its new institutional partner.

Eugene Cook, head of Korea at Blackstone Private Equity, highlighted the firm’s engineering capabilities as a primary driver for the investment. By integrating Futronic’s motion control expertise, Blackstone intends to capitalize on the increasing demand for hardware capable of executing the complex tasks defined by modern AI models. While the financial terms remain undisclosed, the partnership signals a long-term commitment to the critical components that underpin the shift toward autonomous physical systems.
