This friction highlights why many enterprises struggle to transition AI projects from experimental pilots to reliable production systems. The data from Sinch’s "The AI Production Paradox" study reveals that 74% of companies have already been forced to roll back or shut down a deployed AI agent. Even organizations with mature governance frameworks are not immune, recording an 81% rollback rate.
Sophie Cheng, Chief Marketing Officer at Sinch, notes that leadership and operational teams are currently working from different realities. While executives focus on strategic progress and capital investment, implementation teams are bogged down by the granular challenges of governance and infrastructure. Consequently, 84% of engineering teams report spending at least half of their time managing AI guardrails, while 55% are forced to build custom infrastructure just to maintain cross-channel context.
